Accepting Our Differences
 
Now, more than ever, people are aware of the importance of teaching children to respect people of various sizes, abilities, ethnicities, and ages. When children respect themselves and others, they feel good about who they are. When children learn to value people who are different from them, they are better prepared to live peacefully in a diverse world. Children learn from our examples and behaviors and so it is our privilege to encourage the children in our life to become open hearted and kind to those who are different, and to honor the unique qualities that make them a unique person. Beauty and the Beast Blend helps children access emotion and experiences that may have difficulty perceiving. At times, they are not sure of the implications of the differences and may fear or shy away from others. Delicately, we may teach a child what it is to “grow a heart of love” and accept the differences of those around us. This essence is wonderful for in classroom conflicts, teasing, when struggling with identity, and builds courage to help those who suffer from isolation and bullying.
